Good morning Mr. Philip Acha." I reapeat from you confrontation on the other hand is empirical and absolute. Only through confrontation can power be realised. Good talk.I humbly accept with you that the entire public service man power, brain, is aged and needs a complete overhauling.

My brother Acha i have the impression some of us are not ready.Most often we use our keyboards to analyse the political temperature and minds in Cameroon without actually knowing what transpired in the field.I am a young man of 30's,we faught hard in the 90's stood firm behind SDF, supported change in Cameroon to no avail. 20 years i had never fail to cast my vote in an Election in Cameroon called it rigged or free, fair election.

Make no mistake Acha, i want to state with a fair degree of certainty that i am not ready to vote in any Election in Cameroon in the present state of things. During the last Parliamentary Election i worked in a polling station,personally counted the votes and was shocked with the out come of the result.Am not ready for any heart break. I will tell you i rang my friend Njoya in Buea who disclosed the result of a polling station to me and quest what? The result later came out to be fake.

Acha, Paul biya ammended article 6 sub 2 of the constitution stipulating the term of office from 7 to 5 in order to stay in power, that for sure. That is where the rigging machinary started.
Acha i will stand behind you, Osih,Fomunyoh,etc provided you assure me of a free fair Election in Cameroon. The youth are yet to accept the fact that we have latent energy, the youth constitute a formidable force in Cameroon. In 2008 i was detain in Mbanga for 4 nights because i was found in position of SCNC membership card.

I saw young energitic men ready for action but no leadership. Acha i accept with you Chairman is old enough to have a rest and hand over command to Fomunyou, Osih, Kah Walla. Where was Christoper? why did he wait to come in just at the edge of Election period? In which party does he belong? What does he want to offer as a political strategy?

Acha i see most of these guys are just there to joke with our fate. I want a true patroit. The only party i could trust a bit now is SDF or seperation. We have to regroup ourselves not over the keyboard but in Cameroon. This forum has more than enough teachers but limited students bros. The time for ACTION IS NOW.


Acha i saw the clock and the explosive attached to and it immediately came to mind that if we were serious enough we would have longed devise this strong mechanism above to chase these old men and stop complaining.

Phillip with a bottle of Amstel you can succesfully change the mind of a youth in Cameroon to vote for CPDM. The SDF convention will soon be up i expect people like Osih' Nyncheu, Christoper,F. etc to challenge Fru Ndi. For your information i will never cast a single vote in favour of any fellow from the center, east,north,South. I believe the direction of hegemony has to shift.


Yes Asafor,your points are very correct and since I no longer care what happens with LRC as a result of my engagement with The Southern Cameroons cause,I am "ABSOLUTELY" for the Restoration of our homeland-Southern Cameroons.I want you to drop your other option of either SDF or Separation and stand fully for separation.It is sad enough that our respected Fru Ndi has failed to reconcile with his fellow citizens of Southern Cameroons;if SC Parliamentarian had staged a walk-out from LRC House of Assembly since the Banjul rulling,SC could have been introduced as a new member of the UNO during the just ended session.
With all the wisdom Fru Ndi is blessed with,I pray he sees how much he is holding the SC cause hostage in LRC.Mr Acha,my respect for all your write-up.

KonforNjiwa, my father once told me that as a hunter you go to the hunting field with a Matchet,a Gun, a spear, Snail,in order to target the animal from different angls. I supported SDF hoping change could come and Southern Cameroons will feel the impact,I worked with my French brothers and from every indication its a difficult union.

Personal Mr. Acha unless the opposition as hole can unite and send in just a single leader to face the CPDM then there is no hope of ever winning an election in Cameroon. Only if a miracle occurs, there isn't really a need to waste time and resources voting in an election which has been rigged months and years ahead before it actually take place.

This is what I think:

1) Cameroonians were prepared to fight to the last drop of their blood if the opposition had sent in single candidate for the 2004 presidential election. The coalition failed.

2) Cameroonians would still be ready to fight Biya if the SDF tables the candidature of one of its resourceful militant. They could even project 2 candidates ( excluding Fru Ndi ) as a new political orientation

If you surprise an SDF supporter in the street by asking him what Fru Ndi stands for, he would probably be dumbfounded before giving a vague answer such as - improving the lives of Cameroonians or shifting power to the people. If they could clearly define their economic and political agendas, people could have logical reasons for being behind them.

Biya's obvious failure is a fantastic opportunity for Anglophone politicians to make political gains in favour of the Southern Cameroons' struggle. They have preferred to handclap at the fake assembly and others think Democracy can place them in Etoudi.

Subject: Update of the actual situation of our Electoral Process

Your Excellency,

With regards to the very serious and worrying state of our electoral process and the imminent risk of a major social deflagration this situation might cause if nothing is done, we herewith would like to update you on the current state of issues with respect to our initial letter addressed to you dated August 2010.

Considering the actions undertaken by ELECAM so far, the SDF notes that ELECAM has been going on with business in violation of Art. 42.4 of Law N° 2006/011 of the 29th of December 2006 that clearly stipulates that “ a decree of the President of the Republic shall duly ascertain that Elections Cameroon has been effectively put in place”. In the absence of this decree, which is the case; ELECAM is acting in pure illegality.

We therefore observed that the activities of ELECAM so far are null and void and called on ELECAM to stop entertaining electoral issues until its legality is attained by the signature of the said Presidential decree. We have also introduced a petition to the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court in that respect.

We have witnessed with satisfaction the general call for a Consensual Electoral Code that will harmonize the actual conflicting, confusing and complicated multiple laws and hope that a code will come into reality during the upcoming November session of the National Assembly. The SDF will table a Private Member bill again during this session and hopes that all concerned, including the members of the Board and Directorate of ELECAM will use their good offices to advocate this call into reality by supporting our Private Member Bill or presenting a bill from government.

In the absence of a credible Electoral Code and an Independent Electoral Commission, which we no longer expect from this government, we believe that acceptable elections can only be organized if the eleven points we have been proposing as minimum conditions are met. We herewith update you with the actual situation with regards to these minimum conditions.

1. A new electoral register is put in place

The SDF notes the call by most if not all of the stakeholders for the drawing-up of a new electoral register in lieu and place of the actual revision of the disparate Ministry of Territorial Administration’s register.

Taking note of the response of the Chairman of ELECAM as to the fact that the revision exercise is in line with the law, and notably the point that drawing-up a new register is ordained by decree, we recall here our position that the law actually calls for a new register to be drawn-up in that:

Art. 42.1 of Law N° 2006/011 of the 29th of December 2006 stipulates that “All previous provisions repugnant hereto are repealed and shall so remain.
Art. 22 of the same law stipulates that “The Director General shall be responsible for all election operations and referendums under the supervision and control of the Electoral Board, such as:
- Drawing-up, managing, updating and keeping the national voter’s register as well as election documents and materials;
- Drawing-up and publishing voters’ lists; etc…

It is therefore evident that once the legality of ELECAM is confirmed through the missing Presidential Decree, the drawing-up of a new electoral register must be an evident conclusion.

2. The full respect of the provisions of Art. 8 & Art.13 of the law on ELECAM governing the independence and neutrality of the members of the Council and Directorate of ELECAM

The SDF notes that the lack of neutrality and credibility of the members of the board and directorate of ELECAM has been unanimously decried and the Chairman of the Board of ELECAM, recognizing this lack of neutrality at the time of their appointment, has asked Cameroonians to judge them on the basis of the work they will deliver.

The SDF reiterates its firm condemnation of this flagrant violation of Art. 8 and Art. 13 of Law N° 2006/011 of the 29th of December 2006 by the Presidential Decrees of the 30th and 31st December 2008 appointing members into the Board and Directorate of ELECAM and also reiterates that in the absence of the resignation of the concerned, the said Presidential Decrees must be annulled.

The SDF further condemns ELECAM’s call for the creation of an anti-constitutional jurisprudence whereby laws can be violated on the basis of purported outcomes that would eventually be in line with the spirit of the violated law.

3. The immediate appointment of a new Board and Directorate members into ELECAM as well as the application of the same provisions to the regional, divisional, sub-divisional and local representations.

The violation of the law is not only at the level of the Board and Directorate but goes down to all of the structures they put in place. Nowhere was there a term of reference or even a public announcement for the recruitment of the members of these structures. It was done in complete opacity and when these structures are not manned by known CPDM agents, they simply share the same offices.

4. The inclusion of biometric data on voter registers and the voter cards

There is no law that provides for the type of information that has to be carried on the voter’s register and voter’s cards. In view of the enormous difficulties and fraud that has been witnessed and constantly evidenced in past elections, we believe that a minimum amount of biometric data must be included in the voter data. We have suggested that ELECAM’s computer system be linked to the National Identification Database which has all information on Cameroonians, including pictures. Since the precondition to be registered is the presentation of the National Identity Card, its number could immediately fetch all the required data from that database and the register can immediately e updated with the available data and a voter’s cards can be printed with the available picture and fingerprint.

5. The exclusion of the Ministry of Territorial Administration from all ELECAM functions

The fundamental reason why we have gone from an elections observatory to Elections Cameroon is because the Ministry of Territorial Administration was unable to deliver a clean election. Bringing them back into the system is a plot in advance to have the upper hand of the administration control the electoral process.

6. The inclusion of participating political parties at all decision-making levels and in all commissions charged with the organization and conduct of elections

We believe that it is important for the stakeholders to be part of the decision making process and also believe that this participation should not be limited to the simple presence of the stakeholders but the stakeholders should have access to such resources as are necessary for the full accomplishment of ELECAM’s mission.

7. The utilization of the single ballot paper

The SDF notes with encouragements that ELECAM and the SDF have the same opinion as to the effectiveness and simplicity of the single ballot paper and therefore we remaini in expectation of its immediate adoption as the unique means of ballot for all future elections and call on ELECAM to introduce this with no further delay.

8. The institution of a two round presidential election

The SDF will introduce this as a Private Member Bill to the National Assembly in its November Session for a modification of the constitution to that effect. We hope that the CPDM regime will ask its parliamentarians to support that bill which is a precondition to emerge out of a Presidential Election with a President truly elected by the majority.

9. The endowment of ELECAM with Effective Financial Autonomy.

The Chairman of ELECAM has made several remarks pertaining to their budget limitations and therefore the SDF reiterates its stand to the point that only an effective financial autonomy can guarantee the required efficiency and neutrality of an electoral body and calls for provisions to be made to correct any shortcomings.

10. Clear protocols should be put in place to ban the participation of public officials and civil servants in campaigning

ELECAM must put in place clear and known protocols and sanctions must be known in advance as well to curb the rampant use of state resources during election in campaigning and the implementation of fraud for the CPDM.

11. The effective participation in elections of the Cameroonian Diaspora

It is estimated that about 20% of Cameroonians live abroad and this Diaspora contributes to a significant amount of the nation’s wellbeing. We insist that this Diaspora must be allowed to participate in the electoral process for any national election.

We sincerely hope that progress will be made and in the absence of any dialogue between the hierarchy of the party in power and the leading party of the opposition, although we have made several official calls for such dialogue to take place, we are bound to refer ourselves to you and draw your esteemed attention to use your good offices to help avert a major social deflagration in Cameroon. Progress towards clean elections in Cameroon today must be a major priority and urgency. Cameroon will not survive any new unacceptable elections.

My only prayer is that our countrymen and women can emulate such a shining example of contributing positively to the welfare of the nation instead of the stale and vitriolic exchanges we have become accustomed to.

One can philosophise anything in politics to defend his stance no matter how myopic he sees things. A political party may not be tried for crimes against humanity but those who represent this party symbolise it. If they are tried, it is the party that is standing trial. That is why the Nazi party was banned in Germany and even the swastika till today is unacceptable anywhere in countries believed to be free. So one cannot claim to be drawing a line between a party and the people it is made of.
The SDF has refused to identify itself with elecam for the simple reason that it is made up of CPDM members. The mere appointment of CPDM members to head ELECAM was a traversty of the law creating the organisation. You cannot expect diehard CPDM members to conduct a free, fare and transparent election. ELECAM did not have the powers to start functioning until Mr. Biya signed a decree putting the organ in place but it did and until it was taken to court did Biya sign this decree last Friday. This means actions taken by this organ before the decree are illegal. But in Cameroon, Biya and his institutions are above the law and those whose eyes cannot see blame but Fru Ndi
Then, ask yourself what powers elecam will have to organise free, fare and transparent elections when the almighty Supreme court judge declared in 1992 that his hands were tied and is still the person to declare election results tomorrow. The mere fact that Fonkam Azu almost goes on his knees when answering a phone call from Biya says a lot of what will happen if Biya tells him he (Biya) must be the winner of an election he has lost. Somebody should tell me, who has more powers, ELECAM or Supreme Court?
We must know that the mere fact of registering for the elections now is a silent approval of elecam and the SDF does not want that approval. It is a political decision. Many people who do not belong to the SDF share this view and that is why, for now, less than 130000 Cameroonians have registered. The Cameroon population as of last census is hovering around 19m and elecam is targeting 4m registered voters. Biya wants people to register so that he tells the world that elecam is credible. When he is declared winner even before ballots are counted, the world will believe him.

As rightly introduced in the mother article above, individuals unite under a party and not the other way round.

It is only logical for right thinking people to identify with the right ideals, institutions and systems put in place for the good course. In my opinion, the SDF may no longer be as popular, but till date, we can’t boast of other political party that has helped in accelerating Cameroon towards positive change better than the SDF, which regretfully, Cameroon has little to show for its multiparty system – or shall we also say the opposition has not proposed solutions? And even if Ni John Fru Ndi, is no longer the ideal candidate, for the SDF, there is no doubt in his capacity as a leader for the ideals he stands for.

What about strategy? - if he is planning to step down for a younger and more politically agile person or ‘even for the sake of change’, strategy and timing are two items in the political game too important to be left to be handled by emotions . We are so fast in condemning a candidate - yet to be named, than in the assessment of an Electoral system that is so faulty to guarantee just results.

Name a candidate now and still get the results rigged or fight for a change in system. What is priority? When we approach from the candidate, I get the impression the change factor is primarily individualistic and least concerned about the institutions in place.

Those who believe in positive change should be more concerned about ELECAM than picking on the SDF (and its chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi), which is the only party that seems to understand what the real problem is and making an effort to address it as in 11 points raised against ELECAM above.

Kah Walla, may be very intelligent and a potential candidate for Change, either through another party or through the SDF, but for now her efforts are only as good as a 5m long, 1m wide wooden boat sailing without a radar in the Atlantic ocean. Unless it is a hidden strategy by the SDF itself to weigh her political weight, I am shocked that she is prioritizing for electoral registration over a change in the electoral system. One thing I am most certain of, the party – candidate that will lead and succeed in the fight against the present political/electoral system, will be the party/candidate more likely to win the crowds or influence towards the desired political change in Cameroon within the next decade – an idol in the making.
